Happy holidays and a break!

It’s that time of year again when people celebrate the holidays.  I wanted to share the image I made for a Christmas card this year, but also share some news.

First, Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all who celebrate.  This was the card I sent out to family and friends this year (I kept it simple due to lack of time):

Second, I was hoping to do a big giveaway for the holidays in conjunction with the release of my first authored picture book, but it hasn’t come out yet.  There are shipping delays and we’re not sure of the exact release date at this point.  So that will have to wait.

Finally, this school year has been overwhelming and exhausting.  I didn’t have any Simply 7s post this this last week because I was in survival mode (and I did survive the last week of school).  We have new state laws, a new reading curriculum, and all that goes with both of those things that have complicated the heck out of my free time (as in I have none this school year).  I have spent a lot of free time working on revamping my physical portfolio for an in-person conference locally in September and a picture book dummy due for professional feedback in October.  Then frankly, not much other than work.  It’s been eating me alive this school year.

That being said, I’ve been debating on the following news for a few months, but I think I need to do it for sanity’s sake.  I’m going to take a tiny break for the holidays from my blog.  I’m also going to try and trim down on some of the interviews (possibly).  AND I may be trimming down April’s “Poetry picture book a day” goal as well.  We’ll see how much happens next week other than recuperating for the rest of the school year.  It’s been a rough one.

Much love to all of you, dear readers.  Happy holidays!
