NPM 2024 Day 26: MY HEART IS A POEM

And now for another treasure from my trip to the UK.

MY HEART IS A POEM is a poetry picture book I heard about before I traveled abroad.  I tried to find it in the US, but alas it wasn’t easy to find.  I was determined to find a copy when I went to the UK last summer and I succeeded!  I thought this would be an excellent addition to my classroom collection of poetry books as this is a book full of emotion.  Literally.

Here a variety of poets and illustrators bring life to every emotion they can imagine a child feeling and try to find ways to handle them.  There is loneliness, bullying, racism, and plenty of other hard to handle emotions that are handled with grace, love, and warmth (though also with anger in some cases).  I’m so glad I tracked it down.  It’s hard to pick just one poem to share though and yet, I did.

And if you’re looking for more poetry fun this month, be sure to check out the Kidlitosphere Event Roundup!  Thank you for stopping by!
