I love when nonfiction and poetry collide into beautiful books (like today’s poetry picture book)!
SUPER SMALL: MINIATURE MARVELS OF THE NATURAL WORLD explores only the smallest of creatures. Each animal featured has a poem, a sidebar of information (conveyed in a comic style by illustrator Ashley Spires), and a superpower. Tiffany Stone is the poet extraordinaire here, crafting each poem with flair (and humor!). I share a closeup of the poem, the sidebar, and then the spread of just one page. Again, it was hard to choose just one favorite, but I chose an animal I had studied before and painted. So my love for it blossomed all over again after reading this one.
