NPM day #5

Today’s poem, while by a long-dead poet, is much more playful than yesterday’s.  It’s another poem from the collection “The Death of the Hat” selected by Paul B. Janeczko and illustrated by Chris Raschka.  I’ve long loved Byron’s poetry (and could even quote one of his poems by heart, if you asked), but I hadn’t seen this poem before.  And I love the simpleness of it, as well as of the illustration.  Though I admit I had to read it a couple of times to get all the angles of the riddle.  Byron’s “A Riddle, On the Letter E” is short but definitely something kids should be able to understand and consider playful.
