In order to keep my pursuit of writing picture books moving forward during the school year, I’m participating in Picture Book Idea Month for the first time ever.  Tara Lazar (taralazar.com) hosts the annual event in November and has many amazing blogs from authors along the way.  I’ve been reading the Pre-event blogs every day for the past week now and already my energy is HIGH and EXCITED!

I even went so far as to buy the official idea journal.  It wasn’t necessary, but after a lot of thought, I decided that for my first attempt at this, I needed to have it.  And I totally admit that I’m a sucker for the cute graphics they have every year (those lightbulbs from 2013 just KILL me!  They are SO adorable!).  Bring on the hard work and inspiration!

If you want to learn more about the event (I gave a presentation on it here locally for my Alaskan SCBWI chapter last Thursday), go check out Tara Lazar’s blog and FAQ here: http://taralazar.com/piboidmo/

It officially starts tomorrow (though registration has been open for a while now and won’t close until November 5th).  BUT what a great way to keep the “daily writing” ball rolling.  Next year, I have another plan to help keep pushing it forward, but I’ll wait to let you know about that one until it happens.  ;)  In the meantime, keep writing, keep reading, and keep trucking on (as one of the pre-blogs said).  Yeah!
