Marilyn Singer and Josée Masse collaborated on another collection called “Echo, Echo.” This time it is a reverso poem collection about Greek Myths (another favorite subject of mine). I must admit how stunned I am at how well this form works for these tales. They seem meant for each other: Persephone and Demeter, Arachne and Athena, Perseus and Medusa, etc. They have competing stories and voices that bend so well to the form, it really is a marvel. Like today’s poem. I once wrote a poem about Echo and Narcissus, trying to incorporate an echo and it didn’t work half as well as this one here. Amazing!
