Inktober 2018 Highlights

If you’re an illustrator, you know all about Inktober (created by Jake Parker for the month of October).  If you don’t, you should.  It was even highlighted by SCBWI this year!

I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to participate this year as this has been a challenging school year.  I hate with my “job” takes over my creative time too.  I’ve been nothing but exhausted for months and I’m not sure that’s going to change.  BUT I refuse to give up.

So even if I couldn’t create every day, I would make up that picture the next day, etc.  And I didn’t always have time to post the work every day either.  BUT I did post on Instagram (if you follow me over there, you saw them).  I created something for every prompt for October and made it through by the skin of my teeth.  Yet I wasn’t pleased with everything I did.  There’s only about 7 drawings that I’m pleased with (see below) and might be able to work into full finished pieces.  What do you think?  Did you see my Instagram pics?  Is there another favorite of your’s that I didn’t highlight here?

As I said, these pics below are my favorites.  And every time I create a piece I’m proud of, I think “this wouldn’t have existed at all, if I hadn’t created it from scratch.”  Same could be said of my writing too, but … drawing is easier to share without the struggle to get into print.
