Today’s poem is one I really should’ve shared last year, but I saved it. I don’t know why, but it feels even more appropriate now.
If you haven’t had a chance yet to check out this amazing collection of poems by Irene Latham and Charles Waters, why not? It’s a collection of poems on topics like Courage or Mindfulness that use a variety of poetic forms. Some are written by Irene, some by Charles, but each one is about something that could make the world a better place.
If that weren’t incentive enough, the illustrations by Mehrdokht Amini are stunning works of collage art that matches each poem perfectly. AND there is a quote to match the topic on each spread. This is a book that you need time to read and savor. Seriously.
This collection is so wonderful that I struggled to pick just one poem from it to share. STRUGGLED! I loved so many of them!
And yet, the poem I share here today, the poem I picked out over a year ago, seems the perfect way to start this month: courage.
And if you’re looking for more poetry fun this month, be sure to check out the Kidlitosphere Event Roundup!
Love this book! In fact, I used it as a mentor text for one of my writing projects.
Isn’t it amazing? I really relished this one, savoring every page. There is so much to love.
Such a beautiful share! Thank you! Ruth, thereisnosuchthingasagodforsakentown.blogspot.com
