I love seeing the variety of poets that crop up in these poetry picture book collections (and even more, I love recognizing those names). Today’s collection had a LOT of names I recognized (but what more do you expect from a collection selected by Lee Bennett Hopkins?). Continue reading

After reading Joyce Sidman’s “Winter Bees and Other Poems of the Cold” last year (and yes, falling madly in love with it), I was delighted to find out that there was another collaboration with her and the same illustrator, Rick Allen. Continue reading

Let it be noted though, that yesterday’s nonfiction biographical poetry picture book collection did NOT just focus on the men who made a difference. There were many amazing women mentioned in the book as well. Continue reading

Today’s poetry collection is another nonfiction collection, but it definitely stands out from the crowd. With an award winning author AND an award winning illustrator, about an equally important topic, this book is a stunning piece of art. Continue reading
