When I found out that one of my favorite picture book poets wrote a series of question poems to the earth, I HAD to read this book.
HELLO EARTH! POEMS TO OUR PLANET is a wonderful collection of poems written by Joyce Sidman on a variety of topics relating to our planet. There are poems about volcanoes, the ocean, and so much more. Joyce chose to use question poems and the voice in each poem is so wonderfully child-like that I marveled at how she was able to capture it.
The illustrations by Miren Asianin Lora are beautiful and bring depth to the poems that I can’t imagine without some of the pictures! That’s a true marriage of text and imagery.
It was SO incredibly hard to find just one poem to share, but I finally narrowed it down to one about the ocean (of course).
