You may already have heard of this poetry collection, but I’ve been waiting a long time to read it.
A WORLD FULL OF POEMS is 204 pages and technically not a picture book because of that length. However, each page is wonderfully illustrated and contains either favorite old poems (historical) or favorite new poems (modern) for children. This is a collection to “inspire” children to love poetry on every topic from family, friends, science, feelings, and then some. I found favorites by Robert Louis Stevenson and Lewis Carroll, as well as discovering new favorites by Joyce Sidman, Georgia Heard, and Carol Ann Duffy. What in the world do I choose to share? With a collection like this, it’s incredibly difficult to choose just one! But I did. The language and imagery in this one just captivates me.

I had a poetry collection or two like this when I was a kid. They’re wonderful to dip into. And when they’re illustrated it means the reader lingers longer to absorb the fullness of the moment.
Right? It’s an excellent collection.
