NPM 2022 Day 24: Hard-Boiled Bugs for Breakfast

I realize the title is probably off-putting, but don’t let that scare you.  This is a fantastic poetry collection by Jack Prelutsky.

1-Bugs COVERIf you’re not familiar with Jack’s work, then let me introduce you.  HARD-BOILED BUGS FOR BREAKFAST (AND OTHER TASTY POEMS) is a fun collection of poems that are full of word play (including invented words), silly jokes, and odd imagery that kids love.  Even better, this particular collection is illustrated (in black and white drawings a la Shel Silverstein style) by the fantastic Ruth Chan who has an incredible funny bone.  Her illustrations are the cherry on top of a fantastic ice cream sundae.

If I’d had my act together, I could’ve shared a funny Easter bunny poem.  But I did not.  SO instead, I share another one of my favorites instead.  I loooooove a good pun and there were several really fun (and funny to me) poems with puns in them in this collection.  This one was too good to pass up.
