Are you a fan of poetry AND food? Then today’s picture book is for you!
DELICIOUS: POEMS CELEBRATING STREET FOOD AROUND THE WORLD is a collection of poems by Julie Larios and illustrated by Julie Paschkis. Each poem celebrates a different country and a different food. I had no idea there were so many different kinds of street foods around the world! This book gave me some great ideas for future travel, that’s for sure. The illustrations by Julie Paschkis are a delightful addition. They really help to bring this book to life.
I got to go on my very first trip to New York City last October. It was just as exciting as I expected and not at all what I’d thought it would be too. And yet, there were street food vendors everywhere, just as the poem I chose to highlight describes. In fact, the poem made me sad I hadn’t tried more of them! One of my favorite spots was right outside of a main gate to Central Park. There were so many good smells that it was hard to choose (we went with falafels and weren’t disappointed!).

Food picture books, just right for me! Love it!
I love this idea that highlights food and cultures using poetry!
