How and what do animals eat? That is the topic explored in this poetry picture book.

WILD BRUNCH: POEMS ABOUT HOW CREATURES EAT is a nonfiction poetry picture book. It’s divided into three sections: Swimming Eaters, Land-Based Eaters, and Flying Eaters (although there is one surprise bonus poem at the very end of the book after the back matter that doesn’t quite belong and I don’t want to spoil it because it’s definitely one of my favorites).

I chose one of my favorites: a swimming eater (of course, did you expect anything less?). I find it amazing how the poem captures the slow descent, as well as the peaceful will to survive. And the illustrations that accompany this book are very beautifully done. Enjoy!
