One of the hardest things to say is “I’m sorry.” But admitting you made a mistake and growing and learning from it? Wow! That might be even harder.
THE MISTAKES THAT MADE US: CONFESSIONS FROM TWENTY POETS is a poetry picture book all about mistakes made when these poets were much younger. It’s an intriguing concept: sharing mistakes to help others grow (and learn from the mistakes of others). There are four sections in the book: Oopsie-Daisy!, Stuff Happens, Blessings in Disguise, and What Have I Done?
The poem I chose comes from the last section. Maybe because I relate as a teacher of first graders (in the past)? I’m not sure, but it definitely stood out to me as one of my favorites. Enjoy!
