All good things must come to an end. Today is the last day of National Poetry Month. I hope you have enjoyed the poems I’ve shared. And for today, I have the perfect poem to end on (one I’m currently obsessed with).

SHE’LL BE THE SKY: POEMS BY WOMEN AND GIRLS is a giant poetry picture book collection from Nosy Crow (more akin to the coffee table tome, than picture book). Oddly enough, it’s one I’ve had on my radar since 2023 when I ran across it in a bookshop in the UK, but it had a completely different title (over there it was called “And Everything Will Be Glad to See You”). It highlights poems by nontraditional poets (as men have been the mainly publicized poets for centuries) and seeks to give voice to women of every shade and age (there are even some by young girls in here).
Needless to say, I read through the entire thing and this one poem became an instant favorite. Given hard times as of late, I’ve read it and re-read it numerous times. I might eventually even memorize it. It was why I told my hubby last fall that we needed a quick jaunt to sunshine in Hawaii in December, even if it was for just a couple of days (and I’m so glad we did). Little did I know the trouble that would befall us and the difficulties we would see this spring. But I still hold onto that trip and the memory of it as a hope for better times to come, just as this poem espouses. I hope it does the same thing for you.

Beautiful! Need to check out this book.
This is a good one! The poem is perfect! And what a great book! Thanks for sharing all month long. I’ve been away and in and out, so I always take a bit to read all your lovely April posts.
Aww! Thanks Angie. ☺️❤️
